Unlike the area's reservoirs, the Estany de Montcortès is a natural lake formed by karst dissolution, with very clear water and a forest setting that makes it feel quite different from the other bodies of water in the area.

A flat, well-signposted path circles the whole lake, a short and very manageable family walk with several points of access to the water.

Yes, swimming is allowed in designated areas, although the water stays cool even at the height of summer because of its karst origin.
