How to get there from Cal Nenot

From Puigcercós, the easiest route runs via Tremp and Ametlla de Montsec to the La Masieta car park, the access point for the Catalan side of the gorge. The drive takes about 40 minutes on mountain roads; check Google Maps on the day, since a stretch can occasionally close for roadworks or rockfalls.

The walking route from La Masieta

The trail that follows the gorge along its left bank starts at La Masieta: about 3-4 km each way along wooden walkways bolted to the rock, with direct views of the river almost 500 metres below in places. It's not a technical route, but it is demanding if you're afraid of heights, and it isn't suitable for pushchairs. Full round trip: 3 to 4 hours with stops.

Kayaking through the gorge

The other way to see Mont-rebei is from the water: several local companies run guided kayak trips that enter the gorge from the Canelles reservoir, on the Aragón side. It's a different experience from the walk — calmer, and it lets you see the gorge walls from below.

Booking and parking in high season

In the busiest months (Easter week and summer, especially July and August) access to La Masieta is capped and you need to book a parking space in advance through the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera website. Outside high season you usually don't need to book, but it's worth checking before you go.

With kids or dogs?

For children who already walk confidently and aren't afraid of heights, the first stretch of the trail (as far as the first walkways) is a good introduction without needing to complete the whole route. Dogs, on the other hand, aren't allowed in the natural area — it's nesting ground for griffon vultures and other birds of prey, and the area's regulations restrict it.
