La Pobla de Segur is the largest town in the area after Tremp, and its Modernist old town surprises anyone who doesn't expect it. It's 15 km from Cal Nenot, about 15-20 minutes by car, and it's also where the Tren dels Llacs departs from.

The old town and Casa Mauri
La Pobla de Segur keeps a Modernist ensemble little known outside the area, with Casa Mauri as its standout example. Strolling through its arcaded streets is a good way to see the Pallars's other side, more urban than Tremp or the mountain villages.
The Diada dels Raiers
In mid-July, La Pobla revives the tradition of the raiers: the old log-raft drivers who floated timber down the Noguera Pallaresa river to Lleida and beyond. The Diada dels Raiers, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage, re-enacts that descent on a lively festival day.
The summer Falles
La Pobla also holds its own Falles, the Pyrenean fire festival declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, with torches coming down the mountain at nightfall.
