Dinosaurs in Isona: the Parc Cretaci and the Orígens Geopark
The Conca Dellà, centred on Isona, has one of the highest concentrations of dinosaur sites in Europe — in fact, of the last dinosaurs to inhabit the continent. It's about 25 km from Cal Nenot, around 30 minutes by car, and it's one of the favourite plans among families staying with us.

The Parc Cretaci combines a museum with real fossils and replicas with an outdoor trail featuring life-size dinosaur reproductions — a format designed to help children truly understand the scale of these animals, not just see bones in a display case.
Real footprint and egg sites
The area preserves real sites with dinosaur footprints and egg nests, some visitable with a guide — it's one of the few places in Europe where you can literally walk the same ground where the continent's last dinosaurs once lived.
Orígens UNESCO Global Geopark
The whole area is part of the Orígens UNESCO Global Geopark, a recognition of its unique geological and palaeontological heritage — the Epicentre in Tremp (see our Tremp guide) is the information point for the entire geopark.

Castell de Mur: one of the best-preserved castles in Catalonia
The Castell de Mur crowns a rocky spur above the Conca de Tremp, next to the Romanesque collegiate church of Santa Maria de Mur. It's about 12 km from Cal Nenot, around 15 minutes by car, and the views from the top are among the best in the whole area.

What to see in La Pobla de Segur, the gateway to the Pyrenees
La Pobla de Segur is the largest town in the area after Tremp, and its Modernist old town surprises anyone who doesn't expect it. It's 15 km from Cal Nenot, about 15-20 minutes by car, and it's also where the Tren dels Llacs departs from.
