Mont-rebei in summer: how to avoid the heat and the crowds
The Congost de Mont-rebei in the middle of August can be a very different experience depending on what time you arrive. Here's the advice we give our guests in summer.
Set off early
In summer, the trail from La Masieta is exposed to the sun for much of the route. Setting off first thing in the morning avoids both the worst heat and the busiest hours.
Book parking in advance
In high season, access to La Masieta is capped — book a parking space several days ahead on the official website (see our full Mont-rebei guide).
Bring plenty of water
There are no fountains or shade for much of the route. Plan on at least 1.5 litres of water per person for the full walk.
The kayak alternative
If the heat gets too much, kayaking at the Terradets reservoir is an equally spectacular, much cooler water-based plan.
The reward when you get back
After the route, nothing beats cooling off in Cal Nenot's private pool, 40 minutes away.
